Arzach

That Moebius guy, for the sketch challenge. I did something a bit different on inks here, that, even tho its sloppy made me happy. I like the line weights here on the pen inking I did, I also like how the color pops the figures, even though there's probably a hundred mistakes. I had an earlier version that just made me depressed, when I tried this one.

I haven't played Trollbabe again with the wife, tho I hope to. I also was entranced by Make magazine and saw some fascinating things that reminded me of when I wanted to take apart tape recorders as a little kid, but didn't feel we were exactly rich enough for me to destroy what my parents bought for me. Anyway, even Make magazine seemed too 'tech-y' for someone as unskilled as myself, so I ordered some silly book for teens on how to build your own electronic games. I hope I can decipher that book... I'm itching to be more practical, somehow, lol.

MADMAN!

Hey, he's sorta just had a bad run in with an artist, so go easy on him okay, his legs are broken and some limbs are swollen.

Also, I GMed Trollbabe, and doubly awesome, the game's creator critiqued my GMing, one major gaff but over all, not bad! Read about it here!

I just typed this on another forum, may as well recycle it here:

You just gotta do it wrong I guess!

I went through the rules and tried to write down what I considered the essentials. Plus I managed to talk my wife into playing for the first time, and as you can see, she did better at playing than I did at GMing, lol.

here's what one of my note pages looked like, I get way too anal on notetaking:

Spawn

No I'm not a Spawn fan, but this was for the digital is okay challenge at tenton. I'm reading trollbabe atm, and ordering a ton of story games. I think somewhere in the back of my head, getting over GMing is something somehow important to me, lol. Hopefully my loving wife will oblige me in some gaming this weekend!

Heya. Back.

I tried reading up on digital painting again. Kinda want to do tons more of that. I like the amazing things those guys over at conceptart.org accomplish. I know I won't be more than a bottomfeeder there, but it's good to get back into it. Plus, I sorta have the pipedream kicking around in the back of my head to have a portfolio of pieces to show by August for Gencon. Think I'll be able to do it? Me neither.

Anyway, here's my first futile embarassing digital grayscale thing in a while:

Then there's this rather pathetic drawn from memory sorta rip-offy of a much better manga artist who's initials are AW, but even he would be too embarassed to claim it thing for a recent draw off. This reminds me not drawing for 2-3 months is BAD.

LOKI--

Done for the tenton sketch challenge, I drew this on tracing paper as a fast rough with a thick pencil, then refined some on the same drawing with a thinner one, before scanning it to turn it to blueline, then ink and marker over it. That may break the sketch rules, but so what, it's not like I'm gonna win anyway, lol.

CONS:
Perspective is obviously off: most notably on the chalice and table, but rather than fix it, I just tried to convey that loki's lair was a bit 'uneven'.
The woman does not look like hela
The brush pen with the nib looks a bit too extreme.
I drew without reference.

Rushed

PROS
Inked some with a nib, so I could draw smaller--pleased with the results, I also like the barely seen lines you get.
I like the composition.
I drew this really fast with no reference (tho it shows, lol) short of flipping through a famous artists course book before starting.
The face looks kinda john buscema to me, which tells me I musta traced some buscema sometime in the past, lol.
For a rushed piece, I like how much background there is. This is a good 'rough', imo.

Done for the digital challenge, this is Magnus, Robot Fighter vs. Cyclops of the X-Men. The idea of two characters fighting seems not that exciting to me, but that's what the assignment was. Done in illustrator 10 from a hand sketch. Haven't tried that no-outline style before, consider this picture moderately sucessful for the experiment.

Got married yesterday!!1

Unfortunately, the wife will want to approve all photos first, so I drew a zombie doodle instead!
